[Newspim] JNTC merges with Comet, subsidiary company…”New business of glass substrate is in full swing”

JNTC, a leading 3D cover glass company, officially announced on the 8th that it has decided to merge with Comet, a subsidiary specializing in plating and etching.

After JNTC officially announced its entry into the new TGV glass substrate business in March last year, it successfully completed the first sample demonstration in June of the same year and even succeeded in developing a large-area TGV glass substrate in October. JNTC has signed NDAs with a total of 16 global customers and has entered the stage of providing customized samples to each company. In June, it is focusing its business capabilities to become a leading company in the industry by completing the construction of 5,000 production lines per month for the first time in Korea.

Founded in 2005, Comet is a specialized company specializing in plating and etching and has played a leading role in internalizing core process technologies in the connector and tempered glass field for about 20 years.

A company official said, “The merger of Comet, a 100 percent subsidiary, will be a turning point in enhancing management efficiency and securing differentiated competitiveness through the production of its own facilities and internalization of technology, including plating and etching processes, in promoting the TGV glass substrate business.”

“The nation’s first mass production line for glass substrates will be completed in June at the Mado Industrial Complex in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, where Comet is located, and sales for glass substrates are expected to be gradually reflected in the second half of the year, so we plan to expand the mass production line to the company’s local production company in Vietnam,” he added. “We are also actively discussing detailed facility investment (CAPEX) with a number of global customers.”

“From the second half of the year, all executives and employees are doing their best to become global state-of-the-art materials companies by improving the performance of existing businesses, discovering various AI-based new business models centered on TGV glass substrates, and converting to a full-scale mass production system,” said Cho Nam-hyuk, CEO of JNTC. “We plan to communicate separately about more details on the full-fledged TGV glass substrate business.”
